A Busy & Blessed Weekend...

This past weekend we had the blessing of hosting a retreat for a small group of Faculty wives (a.k.a. Profettes) from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. The fabulous retreat team composed of some TBC ladies helped package this little getaway with a variety of girlie activities beginning with a "Jewelry Mixer" with friend Sabrina...
Followed by "Art with Flowers" with Paulette...
Hard at work...
Sabrina adding her finishing touches to our bracelets...

Following our slumber party and morning worship, we indulged in some pampering... hand therapy, foot soaks, massages and makeovers...

AND then glamour shots!

So grateful for the team of ladies who helped put this together AND for the ladies of the seminary who give above & beyond for HIS glory.... May you each be strengthened by His Word and filled to the measure of all the fullness of Christ Jesus as you serve to make HIS Name great! Thank you for your faithfulness!
Saturday afternoon, we had a family photo shoot and then Dedushka (a.k.a. "Pappy", "Pappaw" or "PopPop" as the varied names the kids call him go) arrived from Virginia. "Babushka" is on a girls' trip in Williamsburg so my father has been able to join us for a few days en route to business meetings in California come Thursday. Needless to say, the kids were excited! A few weeks ago James had asked when dedushka would return... his exact words, "he spanky"... meaning Dad was in trouble for not being able to make the trip since our return from Ukraine back in May... too cute. Sunday morning trip to church (see below)... precious....
Sunday was National Orphan Day across the country in Evangelical churches. We lined our foyer with opportunities to get involved in orphan care. Namely: Foster Care, Promise 139 (orphan hosting), Abba Father Ministry (providing financial assistance & support to families adopting), Beautiful Feet Ministry (sponsored by our PraiseKids to give shoes to orphans), Operation Christmas Child (Samaritans Purse) and Tumaini Miles of Smiles Orphanage in Kenya (sponsoring orphans abroad)...

We had a luncheon afterwards for current sponsor families, special guests from Kenya and the International Sports Federation, as well as for families involved in orphan care leadership...
Our extra-special guests: Rose Bogusu (Director of Tumaini orphanage in Kenya), SaraBeth (Director of SportsPlus Missions), Vivian (5th Grade resident of Tumaini) and Cheryl (Founder/Director of the International Sports Federation)...
They shared about the work God is doing in Kenya with AWANA students on Sunday evening...

2. SPEAK UP for them
3. PROVIDE for their needs
4. SUPPORT those who support them
5. PROTECT them from harm
6. VISIT them where they are
7. GIVE sacrificially to them
8. ENCOURAGE them to press on
