Mothers of Daughters

Despite 'germfest' at the Merida's this week, my oldest daughter and I were able to escape for an hour after school Tuesday for some mother-daughter time... One on one time seems quite difficult to find, but oh so important! We went to try on some jeans that fit and much needed tennis shoes for school... followed by a latte for me & Fanta for her + a marshmallow treat from Starbucks = Priceless!
Thus says the LORD: "Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls..." (Jeremiah 6:16)

I am praying God's grace over this precious one (and all my children!) to walk "where the good way is" and to "not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of her mind, that by testing she may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." (Romans 12:2) This world is not our home. May we not get comfortable in it.

"For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come." (Hebrews 13:12)
The extra treat for the day was new earrings...
Mothers of Daughters - a good book you may want to read is Vicki Courtney's "Your Girl: Raising a Godly Daughter in an Ungodly World"...
Let us pray, model and teach our children to NOT fall prey to the world's definition of worth that says:
Worth = What You Look Like
Worth = What You Do
Worth = What Others Think of You
But RATHER, God's Formula For Defining Worth:
Worth = Who You Are in Jesus Christ

Great Post! We are also trying to teach our daughter the same things..thanks for the tip about the book, I'll see if our bookstore here has it. I loved the video of the girls playing. I wish my daughter had found a love for dolls like your girls have. You are being such a wonderful example to them now, that they themselves will grow up to be very loving mothers too, which is evident even as they hold their babies and play in the video. Great job!

I am looking forward to the "shopping" type bonding time with my girls. I catch glimpses of that time with Karis every once in a while and I get excited. I think I am looking forward to the conversation time (of course I would since quality time is my love language). I keep reminding myself that having conversations about pretending to be an alligator, pretend tea parties, and dress up all lead to the foundation of trust for which I can later have those "mother/daughter" conversations.

You're a great mom! Thanks for sharing your experiences! Love ya, Friend!
