This morning, Tony took James to basketball camp at the church. He said James jumped right in with the other children in shooting hoops. However, when the dribbling drills and shooting drills began he shied away into observance mode. He came home with new tennis shoes, a basketball camp t-shirt and a beaming smile. It was precious...
More sweet friends from church dropped off some play furniture for the kids that their grandchildren had outgrown. The girls had a blast playing kitchen and with their baby dolls...
Mom and I had ventured out with the three girls while James was at basketball camp. We had a successful trip to Walmart but needless to say, I will not be making that trip with two or more for quite sometime. Talk about overstimulation! I'd made a couple runs with one child at a time and their reactions were the same - "MAMA! LOOK!" (Gasp * Sigh *) "MAMA! LOOK!" So, it was all that times three this morning! Ha ha... One of the things we purchased was a sprinkler toy to cool down from Mississippi summers. Mr. Mechanical James had a blast exploring how it worked... :)
My friend, Seagie, dropped by for lunch and shared some of her music. The kids were captivated by the water sprinkler so they missed out on some BUT I enjoyed a little music therapy. We are hoping to participate in a recording project in the not too distant future - Lord willing. Afterwards, we loaded the van up for a trip to the doctor!
What a blessing it was to have new friend (and likely to become one of my best friends - ha ha), Olga, join us for the adventure in order to translate! She is originally from Odessa, Ukraine. I cannot say enough, "What a blessing!" It took no time at all for the kids to warm up to her, following the initial shock I'm sure of hearing someone here speak to them in Russian. Olga was incredibly helpful with explaining all that was going to occur, as well as go over a small list of things Mom and I had put together for her to explain regarding things back at home. Some examples: toilet paper goes in the toilet in America not the trash can; seat belts are without exception a must or they could get hurt and momma go to jail; etc....
Our fabulous pediatrician, Dr. Richardson, took a lot of time with us going over everything. All four of our children seem to be healthy and doing well. Praise the Lord! Then it was time for shots and blood work. The older three nearly fought each other over who would go first. They then decided they would go oldest to youngest. James went first and was quite the heroic example. When it was Angela's turn she wanted to make sure she got the same amount of shots. Everything is a competition. Jana went next and also hardly flinched. When it was Victoria's turn the tears began to fall and the screaming began... and my tears began to fall as I watched the nurses hold her down while speaking words of comfort.... When it was time to draw blood, she worked herself up to shaking while all of her siblings tried to speak affirmation and comfort and I held her in my arms. Precious big brother and sisters they are. All in all, they did MARVELOUSLY! We were so proud of them! I told Olga I wanted to hire her! What a blessing!
Yet another blessing was arriving home nearly three hours later to dinner delivered from another generous family from church! Talk about a life savor! It was delicious and came with ice cream, which was a big hit for the kids from such a full day. Baths went well. Everyone was so glad to see Papa after a long day at work for him. Bedtime was a little later than it has been, but there were no fusses. I let Victoria curl up in our bed where she is now fast asleep. Thank you Lord Jesus, for this full day of fun and firsts...
